"It is a pleasure to write a letter in support of our project's brilliant sculptor Nathan Scott. From an artistic point of view, Nathan has a talent for accurately capturing in bronze realistic facial expressions and body positioning. For our project, the vision was to capture that magic moment of a sailor re-uniting with his family. Nathan created that moment in such a way that anyone seeing the sculpture is seized with a personal emotional response. Though the sculpture is a sailor returning from the sea to his loved ones it resonates with everyone for in the statue they can identify to their own "Homecomings". Nathan is truly a gifted artist and sculptor who are fast becoming renowned for his works. We feel honoured and privileged to have had Nathan associated with the "Homecoming".

Important as well to our project team was the excellent working relationship that developed between Nathan and the group. His advice and perspectives were sought after, well developed and invariably were "A propos' and adopted. Always available to meet and discuss, our meetings and talks were pleasant affairs with a comfortable exchange of thoughts and ideas. Definitely a team player, his interpersonal skills are significant and appreciated.

In summary, we have no hesitation in recommending Nathan for small and large scale projects. Indeed, we have commissioned Nathan to sculpt a second sailor.
I would be happy to amplify my remarks in support of Nathan Scott should it be desired."

"On our first visit to meet with Nathan Scott at his studio it became clear very quickly that Nathan was a very talented artist. He was keen to show us photographs of his previous works as well as current works in progress. When we explained to Nathan the nature of the project he was immediately taken with the idea. What was particularly impressive was his need to understand the character and essence of his subject rather than just produce a likeness. He wanted as much background as possible, photographs, stories, urban legends. We had a model pose for photographs and then reviewed whether these truly portrayed the character of the man.

The 'clay' was produced and was shockingly realistic. Nathan was very open to the few changes that were needed and yet maintained his artistic integrity.
Nathan was, I believe, so taken with this project that he decided to cast the bronze himself.

Another aspect of Nathan's professionalism emerged in the selection of the site for the statue. He was once again empathetic to the impact that we were trying to create and yet injected the realities of each option from both a structural and artistic perspective.

On opening day-our annual alumni weekend- Nathan was there to supervise and install the finished work- even down to supplying the drape for unveiling.
What a moment! The impact on those who knew (the subject)-including his son-was palpable.

Nathan's final act was to present us with a DVD which showed the whole creative process unfolding. WE have been able to share this with our alumni as well as have an archival record.

In summary, I cannot speak too highly of the way in which Nathan undertook this commission. It was not just a job but a labour of love. No-one could have been more caring or professional and I would strongly endorse him as a man of integrity as well as a talented artist. As we undertake future projects of this type, Nathan will certainly be our man!"

"In 2008 I presented Nathan Scott with the challenge of sculpting a bronze carousel horse to welcome visitors to our new Carousel and Children's Pavilion.
Nathan researched his subject well then designed a beautiful carousel horse decorated with images of special meaning to me. He showed great skill in creating a design that specifically satisfied my needs.
I could not be more pleased with the completed work and I look forward to watching our visitors scramble onto its back for photos."

"It is with great pleasure that I recommend Nathan Scott as a skilled artist dedicated to his craft for any project he may be awarded.

(We) commissioned Nathan to create a life size sculpture... to which the community owes its name. The project had been a vision of the Association's for 10 years and the commission was awarded to Nathan because of his enthusiasm for the project and his passion to ensure authenticity in every detail which was especially important because of the historic significance of the project.

Working from the only known photograph...and a few artefacts on loan from the Museum of the Royal Westminster Regiment in New Westminster, Nathan turned the Association's vision into reality and we are very happy with the final product, beyond our expectations.

We found Nathan to be very personable and professional and would not hesitate to work with him again given the opportunity."

"I have had the pleasure of selling Nathan Scott's statues for many years...In 2008 Nathan was given a commission...As I followed this project through to completion, I found Nathan to be skilled at meeting our needs and exceeding our expectations.
Nathan demonstrated artistic skill while maintaining structural integrity to withstand stresses from thousands of visitors who will mount its back for photo taking.
Over the years Nathan has consistently been cooperative and delivered on all promises."

"We entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Living Stone Studio and were more than happy with the entire process and the end result.
As the main contact for this project, I dealt directly with Nathan Scott. He was always professional and delivered every stage of the project earlier than the assigned deadline. This project is unique as it involved receiving approvals both from Mr. Nimoy and the holder of the Star Trek license, CBS, before moving forward. Nathan's prompt completion of the moulds, his talent in capturing Mr. Spock's characteristics and the ability to make the appropriate changes when feedback was received, made this project a huge success."

"Nathan enthusiastically worked with the Town's volunteers to provide valuable input and assistance in the planning of the statues. He then professionally created a high quality product in a very timely manner. Mr. Scott is a very conscientious and talented artist who produces high quality work. I am pleased to recommend Mr. Scott and his product for municipal products."

"The public art component was added and to the delight of many was readily adopted by the community. "Roy" as the name of the sculpture was a very accurate representation of one of the rural characters who is well regarded by the residents. The art of the sculpture reflects the kind qualities of the man himself and we all greatly appreciate the care and attention which you took in this commissioned work. ...your work is becoming somewhat of a standard by which all others are being considered. "Roy" has become famous. The artistry, the ease of the installation and the ongoing resilience of the piece are also appreciated.

On any given day, one can visit "Roy" on the bridge and I encourage others to say hello, but they may have to wait in line. As a popular, new member of the family, we expect he will be around for many years to come. Again, thank you."

"Just to let you know how much I love our golfer, Raymond. He has been "planted" in our garden and I am confident we will enjoy him for many years. He is the topic of conversation in the neighbourhood! Your work is beautiful!!"

"Nathan's strong vision and commitment allowed me to fulfill my dream of erecting a statue of Terry Fox for the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Marathon of Hope. His timely dedication and sense of teamwork made the difference in this important landmark for the City of Victoria, B.C."

"The "First Flight" sculpture you created for me of a youngster launching his paper airplane into the sky captures the very essence of my early childhood dreams of future flight. The eyes are alive with anticipation while the facial expression captures the imaginings that would come eventually true for me. I didn't know bronze could show such passion. This sculpture doesn't have to be explained; it's the wonder that was in all of us at that age and everyone who sees it is swept back to their own childhood. Thank you so much."
